Eva Marie Marquez Antoine, at the age of 97, entered peacefully into heaven on January 8, 2019. She was the wife of the late Alfred Joseph Antoine. Daughter of the late Charles Marquez, Sr. and Philomene Soublet-Marquez. Preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters. Mother of the late Joan Antoine Daggs (Lester, Sr. deceased). Survived by daughters Jeanette A. Oliver (James, deceased) and Janice A. Richard (Earl, Jr.), grandchildren James Oliver, Jr. (Laura), Jeffery Oliver (Alicia), Lester Daggs, Jr. ("Jessie"), Leonard Daggs, Earl Richard, III (Ramona), and Charles Richard (Tiffany), great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
"My Aunt Eva, the last of the "Hatchet Sisters", passed away this morning. I will always be thankful for the time she spent with me teaching me how to fish, play pitty-pat, drink beer and understand what family is all about. I will miss our talks, trips to the camp, going to parades, the Circle grocery "to buy our ponies", and of course mardi gras. She was more of a grandmother than an aunt to me.
