Dora was a strong, independent, loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. Dora was strong and healthy her entire life, until one day, she just started to forget things. First it was small things, then, short term memories, then confusion and frustration set in, and even long-term memories began to fade. This horrible disease robs a person of their memories, their ability to take care of themselves, their dignity, and ultimately, their life. It is a slow progression painful for loved ones to watch. This is the most simplified explanation but there is much more and everyone is different.
Approximately six and half years after Dora's diagnosis, she passed away.
