Donna F. Collins Rawls - devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend of many - passed away peacefully at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 77 on November 12, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Donna was born on August 11, 1945 to loving parents Milliage and Janelle Collins and lived most of her life in Shreveport, Louisiana. She married James O. Rawls, also known as Buddy, on February 14, 1976 and together with their two daughters they proceeded to build a long life of love, laughter and caring.
She enjoyed doing a variety of arts and crafts and loved cooking for her family - except on Friday and Saturday nights! She loved to shop and spend time at Disney World with her family.
A devoted grandmother, she was always there for every birthday, sporting event, graduation, or major milestone in all her grandchildren's lives. However, her role as a grandmother extended way beyond her own grandchildren. Her generous and kind spirit inspired many to call her "Nana" as though she was their own.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband James "Buddy" Rawls, her daughter Tammy and her husband Jonathan Curlin, her daughter Dana and her husband Michael Wheeler, her beloved grandchildren Brandi and her husband Jeff Carter, Elizabeth Wheeler, Alexander Wheeler and great-grandchildren Cohen and Callen Carter. Additionally she leaves behind her sister Deanna and husband Lester Roth, nephew Dewayne and wife Lisa Roth , and nephew Scott and wife Denise Roth along with so many more members of her extended family and her many friends. Dedicated to bringing joy and comfort into the lives of her family and friends, Donna will forever be missed.
Special thanks from the Rawls family to the Shreveport Christus Hospice staff for their amazing care of Donna in her final year.
The family would like to invite all whose lives she touched to help honor her life and memory. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on November 17, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home (Shreveport, LA. - Southside Dr. location ) on November 18, 2022 at 11:00 am. The family suggest donations to the Alzheimer's Association Organization here in lieu of flowers.
