Charlie says - Let's end Alzheimer's!
Our father, Charles Johnson, always woke with a smile, and it stayed with him the entire day. We should all be so lucky to be as happy as our dad!
Our father was a talented product design engineer who loved his radio-controlled model airplanes, his golf, bowling and jigsaw puzzles. He loved his two children, grandson and his three great grandsons. And he adored our mother - his wife Marcia. She dazzled him when they first met, and she continued to be the light of his life during their 60 years of marriage. Our parents lived a life filled with friends, adventure and travel. When Mom began her long struggle with Alzheimer's, our father cared for her in their home with love and devotion.
It was devastating when our father developed his own sudden and severe dementia. He and our mother could no longer stay in the home they loved, and they both required the care of multiple caregivers. But our dad continued to show his love and devotion to his wife. And he continued to smile!
Thank you to the friends and caregivers that shared their love and attention with our father and allowed him to live his life with dignity while battling this devastating disease. And a special thank you to April - you have been a gift to our family, and we love you for all that you have done and continue to do.
This is a tribute to all who are battling Alzheimer's. Please be a part of this movement to find a cure for this devastating disease.
